LAS VEGAS, Nevada — LFA CEO Ed Soares announced details today about the promotion’s sophomore event in Kentucky. The main event will feature two of the top flyweight prospects in the world. LFA 180 will be the second LFA event to take place in the Bluegrass State and its first event to be hosted in the state’s most populous city of Louisville.

LFA 180: Fernandez vs. Siqueira, presented by BetOnline, takes place Friday, March 29th at the Broadbent Arena at the Kentucky Exposition Center in Louisville, Kentucky.

The main event will feature a flyweight showdown between top prospects and promotional standouts Kevin “Lil Dragon” Fernandez and Igor “Golden Boy” Siqueira. The entire main card will be available worldwide on UFC FIGHT PASS® at 9 p.m. ET / 6 p.m. PT.

Tickets for LFA 180: Fernandez vs. Siqueira are available for purchase now through Ticketmaster.com.

“We are excited to make our debut in Louisville, Kentucky at LFA 180,” stated Soares. “We made our debut in the Bluegrass State last year at LFA 160 in Owensboro and we are now excited to travel to the state’s most populous city. Louisville is the home of Muhammad Ali and has a long history and appreciation for combat sports. We are excited to add to that history with a fight card stacked with top international, national, and regional talent. The main event features Kevin Fernandez, who was just nominated for the LFA Fans’ Choice Awards: Male Fighter of the Year. He will face Igor Siqueira, who just fought for the LFA flyweight world title. There will be a lot on the line when these two meet in the main event of LFA 180.”

Fernandez (7-1) is a fighter that embodies what the LFA developmental system is all about. In December 2016, just three months after his 17th birthday, Fernandez won his amateur debut for Legacy FC. This happened just one month before Legacy FC and RFA merged to create LFA. The Fort Worth, Texas native would enjoy a successful amateur career in both MMA and Muay Thai before turning pro at LFA 109. That same night, Terrance McKinney won the main event to punch his ticket to the UFC. Fernandez and McKinney met that night and they are now teammates alongside UFC star and LFA great Kevin Holland. This gives Fernandez the perfect blueprint as he looks to follow in the footsteps of McKinney and Holland from LFA headliner to UFC star. The 24-year-old now gets his first LFA main event slot as he is coming off the most successful year of his career, which included a pair of Arm-Triangle Choke wins and a nomination for LFA Fans’ Choice Awards: Male Fighter of the Year.

Siqueira (9-2) is a man looking to make a statement after proving he belongs at the top of the flyweight division last summer. After his teammate Felipe Bunes signed with the UFC and vacated the strap, Siqueira fought Cody Davis in an epic title fight that lasted nearly the full 25-minutes in the main event of LFA 161. The 30-year-old native of Moju, Pará, Brazil came up short that night in Los Angeles, but immediately asked LFA brass for the toughest test available in order to put himself back in the title picture. The Paraense was granted that request in the form of Fernandez. Siqueira is full of confidence as he trains alongside the legendary Pitbull Brothers, Patricio and Patricky, as well as former LFA champions Leandro Higo and Bunes. The man known as “Golden Boy” is well traveled having earned notable wins in his native Brazil as well as Colombia and Mexico. Now the regional champion looks to pick up his first win on American soil as he gets set to headline another LFA event.
