LAS VEGAS, Nevada — LFA CEO Ed Soares announced today that the promotion will return to Ventura, California on Friday, August 21st, as part of the 2026 Throw Down Cornhole Festival, bringing together one of the nation’s premier cornhole festivals and another action-packed night of world-class mixed martial arts at the Ventura County Event Center.
LFA 239: Francischinelli vs. Hanes, presented by Monster Energy, takes place Friday, August 21st, 2026 at the Ventura County Event Center in Ventura, California. Doors open at 4:00 p.m. PT, with the preliminary card beginning at 4:30 p.m. PT, followed by the main card at 6:00 p.m. PT. The event will air LIVE in the United States on VICE TV, while fans across Latin America can watch on ESPN Deportes and ESPN KnockOut.
The Throw Down Cornhole Festival has become one of the country’s premier annual sporting festivals, attracting competitors and fans from across the United States for a weekend of competition and entertainment. In addition to elite cornhole tournaments, the festival features live music, DJs, food vendors, truck and motorcycle displays, axe throwing, and the LFA Fight Night, making it one of the most unique sports weekends of the summer.
Headlining the evening’s MMA action will be a welterweight showdown between former LFA welterweight title challenger Luis Francischinelli (6-1) and rising contender Jonathan Hanes (6-3).
Standing an incredible 6-foot-6 (198 cm), Francischinelli possesses one of the most unique physical frames in the welterweight division. The towering Brazilian striker combines exceptional reach with dangerous stand-up skills and returns to the LFA looking to earn the signature victory that could propel him back into title contention.
Standing across the cage will be Hanes, who has quietly established himself as one of the LFA’s rising welterweight contenders through his toughness, well-rounded skill set, and willingness to face dangerous opposition. He now enters the biggest main event opportunity of his career looking to continue his climb up one of the promotion’s deepest divisions.
