LFA 179: Weigh-In Results

RIO DE JANEIRO, RJ, Brazil — On Friday, March 22nd, LFA hosted the weigh-in for LFA 179: Neto vs. Antunes from the Courtyard by Marriott in Rio de Janeiro, RJ, Brazil. In the main event, LFA welterweight champion Geraldo Neto (18-6) defends his world title against prolific knockout artist Vanilto Antunes (15-6).

LFA 179 will feature veteran MMA commentator Ron Kruck, who will be joined in the booth by UFC star Caio “The Natural” Borralho. The Brazilian-Portuguese commentary team will consist of Brazilian MMA analyst Max Soares, who will work alongside DWCS star and former LFA title challenger Jonas Bilharinho. They will call the action live inside Arena 1 at Parque Olímpico (Olympic Park) in Rio de Janeiro, RJ, Brazil. The main card will be available tomorrow night LIVE on UFC FIGHT PASS® at 4 p.m. ET / 1 p.m. PT.

Nicoly Pedroza and Tayná Lamounier both failed to make their contracted weight when they stepped on the scale. This bout has now been canceled by LFA officials. LFA 179 will proceed with ten bouts, which includes the welterweight championship at the top of the card.

About ARENA 1:
Arena 1 is an indoor stadium in Barra da Tijuca in the west zone of Rio de Janeiro, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The venue hosted basketball at the 2016 Summer Olympics as well as wheelchair basketball and wheelchair rugby at the 2016 Summer Paralympics. As with a number of other venues in the Barra Olympic Park, Arena 1 was transformed after the games to become part of the Olympic Training Center.
