SANTA CRUZ, California — On Thursday, August 17th, LFA hosted the weigh-in for LFA 165: Compton vs. Valente from the Courtyard by Marriott in Santa Cruz, California. The main event will feature a Middleweight Showdown between hometown hero Daniel “Santo” Compton (8-2) and Brazilian powerhouse Renato “Índio” Valente (9-6).
LFA 165 will feature veteran MMA commentator Ron Kruck, who will be joined in the booth by UFC Hall of Famer and former UFC champion “Suga” Rashad Evans. The Brazilian-Portuguese commentary team will consist of #14 ranked UFC women’s strawweight star Tabatha “Baby Shark” Ricci, who will work alongside Brazilian MMA analyst Max Soares. They will call the action live from the Kaiser Permanente Arena in Santa Cruz, California. The main card will be available tomorrow night LIVE on UFC FIGHT PASS® at 10 p.m. ET / 7 p.m. PT.
Buddy Wallace, Christian Giovannie, Leandro Soares, and Lucas Martino failed to make their contracted weight when they stepped on the scales. They will now forfeit a portion of their purses to their opponents. LFA 165 will proceed with eleven bouts, which includes the Middleweight Showdown at the top of the card.
