BARUERI, SÃO PAULO, BRAZIL — On Thursday, May 28th, LFA hosted the official weigh-in for LFA 234: Fernando vs. Soares at the Quality Suites in Barueri, São Paulo, Brazil. The event will be headlined by the LFA Light-Heavyweight World Championship as reigning champion and former middleweight champion Lucas Fernando (12-3) defends his title against top contender Leon Soares (10-3).

The co-main event will feature the LFA Interim Lightweight World Championship as undefeated interim champion Jefferson “Todynho” Nascimento (12-0) defends his title against dangerous Uruguayan contender Gian Maurente (8-1).

LFA 234: FERNANDO vs. SOARES, presented by Monster Energy, will feature veteran MMA broadcaster Ron Kruck alongside UFC middleweight contender Caio Borralho on commentary. They will call the action live cageside on Friday, May 29th from the Ginásio do Polvilho in Cajamar, São Paulo, Brazil. The main card will air live in the United States on VICE TV at 8 p.m. ET / 5 p.m. PT, with a Spanish-language simulcast on ESPN Deportes. Internationally, the event will be available via ESPN across Latin America, including Mexico, Brazil, and the Caribbean. In addition, the main card will air live on Fight Club throughout Russia and the CIS countries—as well as worldwide on the LFA Fight Network™ on YouTube.

All fighters successfully made weight with the exception of Cassio Barao and Edgar Oliveira, whose bouts will proceed as scheduled following the appropriate penalties. LFA 234 will move forward with a full fight card, capped by two championship bouts at the top of the card.

The Municipality of Cajamar, through the Department of Public Works and Services, coordinated the complete renovation of the entire structure of the Polvilho Gym. Maintenance and repairs were carried out in the entire infrastructure of the gym with new coverage, increase in the dimensions of the court, painting, accessibility to bathrooms, access ramp, installation of a new electronic scoreboard, new hydraulic basketball tables, renovation and installation of LED lighting in the entire indoor and outdoor area of the gym.
