LAS VEGAS, Nevada (January 2, 2026) — LFA CEO Ed Soares announced today that the promotion will return to Brazil’s capital city for the first LFA event of 2026 in Brazil, featuring a championship main event. LFA 225, presented by Monster Energy, takes place on Friday, January 23rd in Brasília, Federal District, Brazil, at Ginásio Nilson Nelson.
After a strong run of events in the nation’s capital throughout 2025, the organization begins its Brazilian calendar for 2026 with another marquee night of fights in Brasília.
The main event features a flyweight interim world title fight as reigning interim champion Marcos Degli (13-3) makes the second defense of his belt. A longtime LFA standout, Degli is one of the most reliable contenders in the division and a protégé of UFC star and former LFA veteran Carlos Prates. Known for his pace, toughness, and well-rounded game, Degli has consistently delivered championship-level performances inside the LFA cage.
Challenging him is Luis Aguiar (9-1), a dangerous finisher from Recife, Brazil. Aguiar has ended eight of his nine victories by submission, establishing himself as one of the most lethal grapplers in the division. A reigning regional champion, he now steps onto the biggest stage of his career, looking to capture LFA gold and cement his name among Brazil’s elite flyweights.
“We are excited to begin our 2026 schedule in Brazil by returning to Brasília,” stated Soares. “This will be our first event of the year in the country, and it’s fitting to headline the card with a high-level Brazilian title fight. Marcos Degli has proven himself as a champion, and Luis Aguiar brings a very real finishing threat with his submission game. This is the kind of matchup that defines what the LFA is all about.”
