LAS VEGAS, Nevada — LFA CEO Ed Soares announced today that the promotion will return to South Dakota in August with a highly anticipated title fight at LFA 214. The main event will crown a new light heavyweight champion as two former Dana White’s Contender Series athletes face off. The Co-Main Event will feature a battle of 2 undefeated prospects for the vacant LFA Middleweight Title. This will mark the twentieth LFA event held in the state.
LFA 214: Fernando vs. Latu, presented by Monster Energy, takes place Friday, August 15th at the Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. The main event will feature a clash between former LFA middleweight champion Lucas Fernando and DWCS veteran Phillip Latu for the vacant light heavyweight world title. The main card will be broadcast worldwide on UFC FIGHT PASS® at 9 p.m. ET / 6 p.m. PT.
“Sioux Falls has been one of our most consistent and passionate markets, and LFA 214 will bring another memorable night to the fans in South Dakota,” said Soares. “Lucas Fernando is moving up in weight to attempt at becoming a two-division LFA champion. He will face a dangerous Dana White Contender Series veteran in Phillip Latu. Our Middleweight division has a rich history in producing top talent. Each of our former champs have received the call up once claiming the belt. I expect no difference when these 2 undefeated prospects face off for our vacant championship. It’s these types of high-stakes matchups that defines our brand and our history in the region.”
Lucas Fernando (11-3) returns to the LFA Octagon looking to make history. The Brazilian captured LFA gold at middleweight in 2023 and now moves up to pursue a second divisional title. A disciple of MMA legend Pedro Rizzo, Fernando brings elite muay thai and finishing instincts, with 7 of his 11 wins coming by knockout or submission.
Phillip Latu (7-2) is a DWCS vet known for his knockout power, with 6 of his 7 wins coming by finish — 4 in the first round. He now has the opportunity to claim LFA gold in his first title shot.
David Allakhverdiev (6-0) is a submission specialist from Ukraine with a 100% finish rate. He now has the opportunity to claim LFA gold in his LFA debut.
John Moore (6-0) makes his LFA debut from the great white north of Canada. He puts his unblemished record on the line in hopes of becoming yet another Canadian to wear the coveted LFA belt.
